With more than 32 years experience as a registered nurse, Linda Johnson, Vice President of Patient Care and Chief Nursing Officer, has brought another level of quality and experience to nursing at Mission Hospital and Mission Hospital Laguna Beach. In her role, she works with all clinical departments and personnel to ensure the highest quality of nursing care is delivered to Mission Hospital patients. In addition, she leads the development of nursing programs, oversees policies and procedures and ensures that Mission’s nurses continue to be among the best in the region.
Johnson has spearheaded a number of initiatives, nursing programs and the Nursing Center of Excellence, a program focused on creating a professional practice environment that empowers nurses through clinical development, leadership development, shared governance, and patient centered care. She served as the chair of the St. Joseph Health Professional Practice Team, designing the professional practice model. She encourages nurses to actively participate in decisions about their practice of nursing through participation in the Shared Governance process at Mission. She was also instrumental in the development of the hospital’s Rapid Response Team (RRT) initiative. In 2008, the Rapid Response Nursing Team was recognized for their efforts by the Joint Commission.
Johnson is a member of the American Organization of Nursing Executives and the Association of California Nurse Leaders. She also holds a national board certification in advanced nursing executive administration. She has a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Marycrest University in Iowa and a master’s degree in nursing from The California State University with an emphasis in nursing administration.
