Ronald J. Galonsky, Jr., FACHE

Chief Operations and Integration Officer

In 2012, Ron Galonsky joined Mission Hospital in the newly created role of Chief Operations and Integration Officer (COIO) reporting to Chief Executive Officer Kenn McFarland. In this role, Mr. Galonsky is instrumental in helping Mission Hospital realize its vision of transforming health care delivery to a new model that is more connected to sister ministries throughout the St. Joseph Health system, more connected to physicians, and more connected to its community through a greater array of services that focus as much on keeping people healthy as caring for the sick.

Mr. Galonsky pioneers a new role designed to help Mission Hospital maintain its reputation for excellence in the next generation of health care. As the COIO, Mr. Galonsky is responsible for developing leading strategies and tactics to address the diverse health and wellness needs of Mission Hospital's communities in the acute care setting as well as external outlets, such as imaging centers, ambulatory surgery centers, home health centers, wellness centers, rehabilitation centers, urgent care clinics and associated physician practices. He leads critical functions to achieve continuous improvement in the ministry's financial and quality performance, and patient and physician satisfaction. Those functions include support services (facilities, environmental services, nutritional care services, safety/security), imaging services, perioperative services, growth and development of the new Neuroscience and Spine Institute, laboratory services, and care continuum functions of rehabilitation, care management and clinical social work.

With more than 23 years of leadership experience in health care, Mr. Galonsky has dedicated his career to improving the health care industry through efficient operations, integrated technology and effective relationships. He most recently served as Chief Operating Officer and Senior Vice President of O'Connor Hospital in San Jose, a ministry of the Daughters of Charity Health System. There he was responsible for strategy development and implementation, particularly in cardiology, neuro interventional radiology and outpatient imaging, IT strategy, and productivity and cost reduction. Prior to joining O'Connor Hospital, Mr. Galonsky served as Chief Executive Officer of Watsonville Community Hospital and as Senior Vice President of Operations and Site Administrator for Centra Health. He also served for nearly 10 years in progressively responsible roles at Hospital Corporation of America.

Mr. Galonsky is a Fellow in the American College of health care Executives (FACHE) and a mentor in the ACHE Leadership Mentoring Network. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Duke University and his Master of Health Administration from the Medical College of Virginia. He started his career as an Army infantry officer, and is actively involved in his church and industry professional organizations.
