Tarek Salaway

Chief Operating Officer

Mission Hospital is honored to have Tarek Salaway serve as part of the leadership team as the Chief Operating Officer (COO). Salaway’s vast health care experience helps him oversee the operations of the high level of quality service we provide to the community in the ever changing health care environment. Salaway overseas a wide scope of the Hospitals’ clinical and ancillary services, including the overall operations of the hospital’s campuses and off-site locations.

Salaway comes to Mission Hospital after serving various leadership roles at Keck Hospital of USC and USC Norris Cancer Hospital at the University of Southern California, serving most recently as the Chief Operating Officer. There he made significant contributions, including improved HCAHPS scores, employee engagement and EBIDA performance; developing and expanding clinical programs; targeted specialty volume growth; and the successful development and implementation of major capital projects and expansion.

Prior to USC, Salaway worked as the Administrative Director of Cardiovascular and Neuroscience Services at Stanford Hospital & Clinics at Stanford University Medical Center. He was also the Service Area Director of Heart & Vascular Services at Providence St. Joseph Medical Center in Burbank and Providence Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills, as well as the System Director of Clinical Performance at Providence Health & Services.

Salaway completed his Master of Healthcare Administration (MHA) degree from at the University of Washington. He also earned both his Master of Public Health (MPH) degree with an emphasis in Epidemiology and Health Services and his Master of Arts in International Relations from the University of Washington. He received his Bachelor of Arts degrees in both Political Science and French Literature at the University of California, San Diego. Salaway resides in Aliso Viejo.
