Mission Hospital Annual Gala Raises $1.2 Million in Net Proceeds for Neuroscience & Spine Institute
Mission Viejo, CA – More than 620 guests attended Mission Hospital's18th annual black-tie gala at the St. Regis Monarch Beach on December 14, 2013. This year's event raised net proceeds of $1.2 million for the new Neuroscience & Spine Institute at Mission Hospital.
The evening began with a private VIP cocktail reception to honor the gala's top sponsors. VIP guests included Title Sponsor, Nolet Spirits U.S.A. – The Nolet Family: Janet and Carl Nolet, Jr., Bill Eldien and Ed Jordan; along with Ambassador Sponsors Kevin and Patricia Moriarty and Emerald Sponsors Hollencrest Capital Management / The Masson Family Foundation, Lew Webb's Classic Car & Event Center, Orange County Neurosurgical Associates and The Williams Family.
During the dinner program, Mission Hospital's President and Chief Executive Officer, Kenneth D. McFarland thanked the Gala sponsors and chairs Jana and Adam Williams and Rosemary and Dr. Sylvain Palmer for their Spirit of Giving in support of the event.
Guests then watched a special video about Adam Williams, who as an eighteen-year-old suffered a traumatic brain injury as a result of a motorcycle accident. Dr. Palmer, a neurosurgeon at Mission, led the team who saved his life 14 years ago. Adam's mom Nancy Williams was so grateful for the lifesaving care he received that she has provided generous support for the traumatic brain injury program at Mission, helping to fund critical expansion and equipment including the new Neuroscience & Spine Institute. "The generosity and selfless giving of the Williams Family has laid the groundwork for our new Neuroscience & Spine Institute," said Dr. Sylvain Palmer. "As a result, our Traumatic Brain Injury medical team has shared life-saving protocols and trained many hospitals around the country and even overseas…saving lives all over the world." Adam and Jana Williams' ten-year-old son Morgan took the microphone and thanked Dr. Palmer for saving his dad's life, receiving a standing ovation from the guests.
The evening also included a successful Raise the Paddle opportunity that raised $86,850 led by generous donors Barry and Valerie Hon and Jim and Sara Sullivan.
