Mission Viejo, CA – Nearly 600 guests attended Mission Hospital's17th annual black-tie gala at the St. Regis Monarch Beach on December 15, 2012. This year's event raised net proceeds of $1.1 million for the hospital.
The evening began with a private VIP cocktail reception to honor the gala's top sponsors. VIP guests included Title Sponsor, The Nolet Family – Nolet Spirits U.S.A.: Janet and Carl Nolet, Jr., Bill Eldien and Ed Jordan; along with Ambassador Sponsors Kevin and Patricia Moriarty, Richard and Sherri Medina and Family, and the Masson Family Foundation, Hollencrest Capital Management and Spence Family.
During the dinner program, Mission Hospital's President and Chief Executive Officer, Kenneth D. McFarland thanked the Gala sponsors and chairs Bill Eldien and Beth Schimmel for their Spirit of Giving in support of the hospital's $500 millioncampaign called Mission500. Guests then watched a special video about the remarkable story of Susan Paterno, a hemorrhagic meningioma survivor who came to Mission Hospital in Mission Viejo, CA on June 14, 2012. Using the most advanced technology available, as well as a holistic approach to her and her family, the staff at Mission Hospital gave Susan a second chance at life. In a segment of the video, Susan's husband Bob Ostmann stated how grateful he was to the physicians and nurses at Mission Hospital: "It was not clear that she was going to live. They did save her life."
One of the highlights of the event was the silent and live auctions. The silent auction showcased unique travel packages, sports memorabilia, kids packages, and more. Guests also had an opportunity to bid on a "Super Silent Auction Item"—a 2013 MAZDA Miata MX-5 Grand Touring car donated by Mazda North American Operations. During the live auction, guests bid on a chance to attend the CHANEL Fall-Winter 2013 Collection during Paris Fashion Week and a private tour of 'Coco' Chanel's apartment with accommodations at Le Bristol Paris; a Harry Winston timepiece; a private St. Regis chef's dinner in the Wine Cellar at St. Regis Monarch Beach; a 6-course dining experience for 14 guests at the Strand at Headlands prepared by the best Executive Chef's in Orange County; an Audi Sportscar Raceway experience; a stay at the Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea and a chance to Golf and Meet Arnold Palmer at Tradition Golf Club in La Quinta.
