At Mission Hospital, you’ll find an unequaled breadth of clinical capabilities.
Gotschall Trauma Pavilion
Ours was the first trauma center of its kind in south Orange County and remains at the forefront as the region’s designated trauma center. As a Level II trauma facility, we’re uniquely prepared to take on the most critical cases. We oversee the immediate care for 60-90 critically injured patients per month in a setting of collaborative and multidisciplinary practice planning. Our continuum of care begins with prevention and education and progresses to resuscitation, surgery, critical intensive care and a rehabilitation program that helps patients return to healthy, productive lives.
We offer the region's most comprehensive advanced neuro care with five of today's most advanced interventional treatment options, including Tissue Plasminogen Activator (tPA), MERCI Clot Retrieval, Penumbra intracranial clot retrieval, Arctic Sun hypothermia protocol and more. Orange County Emergency Medical Services has designated Mission Hospital a Stroke-Neurology Receiving Center. The Joint Commission has also certified us as a Primary Stroke Center.
Muldoon Cardiac Center
Muldoon Cardiac Center provides the highest level of cardiac care in south Orange County. Capabilities include a cardiac surgery program, a nationally recognized coronary artery bypass graph (CABG) program, lifesaving aortic arch dissection surgery and comprehensive cardiopulmonary rehabilitation program. We’re a designated Cardiac Receiving Center by the Orange County Emergency Medical Services.
Rapid Response Team
Designed to help patients showing signs of imminent or potential medical crisis, our Ernest A. Codman award-winning team of highly specialized nurses works hand in hand with the bedside nurse to assist with rapid assessment and stabilization of a patient in need while providing optimal communication with physicians, consulting with staff, and assistance with transfers to a higher level of care.
Traumatic Brain Injury Program
Our Traumatic Brain Injury program, also a recipient of the Ernest A. Codman Award, offers the advanced capabilities and expertise to treat a full spectrum of head injuries. Patients are immediately transported to our computed tomography (CT) scanner for evaluation, and if necessary, to an awaiting neurosurgeon within 30 minutes. The program was one of the first in the nation to use brain oxygen monitors to better gauge and amend treatments.
Acute Rehabilitation Program
This 21-bed unit is CARF-accredited in Comprehensive Inpatient Rehabilitation, Traumatic Brain Injury Medical Inpatient Rehabilitation and Stroke. Through the concerted efforts of our exceptional people, our outcomes continue to significantly exceed the regional and national outcomes averages in most indicators.
