Light Up a Life Tree Lighting Ceremony
Sunday, December 4, 2016
Our Light Up a Life tree lighting celebration netted $30,000 in December,
supporting hospice and palliative care services at Mission Hospital. This
annual event is hosted by the Mission Hospital Auxiliary in collaboration
with Mission Hospital Foundation.
Many thanks to Pat Moy and Maryhelen Davidson, the event co-chairs, and
the entire Light Up a Light Committee for a beautiful and heartwarming
This beloved gathering invites family members and friends to place an ornament
on the Mission Hospital Tree of Lights in honor or memory of a friend,
loved one or caregiver. Tribute gifts enhance our palliative care services
by allowing us to incorporate music therapy and massage, and offer hospice
support to those in need.
The event included harp music provided by the Orange County Harp Troupe,
coordinated by Mission Hospital physician, Dr. Hitome Momose, and vocals
by Mission Hospital nurses Marne Andersen and Stephanie Salgado. The guest
speaker was Crystal Walsh, MSW, ACSW, Hospital Liaison Manager for St.
Joseph Hospice/Home Health Network. Crystal shared several beautiful stories
of patients and families who benefitted from our enhanced palliative care
and hospice services.
