    Physician Bio

    Dr. Marquez was born and raised in Fresno, California. He went to college at the University of California, at Berkley from 1987 to 1992. He graduated with a degree in Psychology.

    He attended medical school at Tufts University in Boston Massachusetts. He graduated in May 1997.

    Following medical school, he completed his internship and residency program in Internal Medicine at the Los Angeles County-University of Southern California Medical Center from 1997 to 2000.

    Afterwards, he was accepted into the Pulmonary/Critical Care program at LAC-USC, where he performed his training from 2000 to 2003. During this time, he conducted research in the Living Lobar Lung transplantation program. In this program, patients received one lobe of a lung on each side from two living donors, usually relatives. Dr. Marquez showed that the patients had good exercise tolerance compatible with patients that had received cadaveric lung transplants.

    Following LAC-USC, Dr. Marquez moved to Ladera Ranch and started with Mission Internal Medical Group in 2003. In 2004 he was elected to be a fellow in the American College of Chest Physicians.

    He is currently on staff at Mission Hospital, South Coast Hospital, and San Clemente Hospital. He is involved in a variety of leadership activities. He is a current board member of Mission Internal Medical Group and is currently the chair of the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee at Mission Hospital since 2006.

    Dr. Marquez is board certified in Internal Medicine and Pulmonary by the American Board of Internal Medicine.

    His interests include Asthma, COPD, chronic bronchitis, bronchiectasis and sleep medicine. Outside his practice, his hobbies include skiing and jogging.
