Patient Essentials

Mission Hospital welcomes you and your family to Mission Maternity Center. We know this time can be exciting and stressful. Our goal is to make your stay as comfortable and pleasant as possible.

While in the hospital, you will be receiving care from different members of our staff and volunteers, depending on your needs. We would like to introduce them to you.

Nurse Managers

Assure patient and family needs are met by providing nursing and operational oversight and coordination of patient-and family-centered care.

Charge Nurses

Oversee and direct all activities on the unit and are available to assist you should you have care issues or questions.

Registered Nurses (RN)

Your labor and delivery and mother/baby nurses are key members of your healthcare team, and will provide the best possible physical and emotional support during your stay. Specially trained in maternity care, your RN will be your main caregiver and a resource to answer questions you may have. Nursing staff work 12-hour shifts beginning at 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.

Lactation Consultants

If additional assistance would be beneficial to breastfeeding, your RN or physician may request an Internationally Board Certified Lactation Consultant visit you in your room.

Birth Registrar

Will assist you in the process of completing and filing legal birth documents.

Bridges for Newborns Staff

Provides referrals to hospital and community classes, support groups and resources.

Patient Care Technicians

Work under the direction of your RN. They may assist and provide additional care as needed.

Newborn Hearing Screening Technicians

Will perform a newborn hearing screening test on your infant prior to being discharged from the hospital.

Laboratory Technicians

Conduct physician-ordered blood draws, most often in early morning hours.

Nutritional Care Services (NCS)

Deliver patient meals and provides dietary education.

Environmental Services (EVS) Partners

Provide daily room cleaning services.

Transporters

Deliver you, as needed, to other areas of the hospital and return you to your room.

Case Management Services

Provides social, emotional and financial problem support.

Chaplain/Priest/Spiritual Care Volunteers

Offers emotional, spiritual and religious support.
