As a Level II trauma facility, Mission Hospital is prepared to address the most critical cases immediately and we maintain everything necessary to treat life-threatening injuries around the clock.
Our dedicated trauma specialists handle approximately 1,000 traumas each year in our Gotschall Family Trauma Pavilion. Our continuum of care begins with prevention and education and progresses to resuscitation, surgery, critical intensive care and a robust rehabilitation program that helps patients return to healthy, productive lives.

Unlike many hospitals in which trauma personnel are also charged with emergency room responsibilities, our Trauma Center specialists are completely dedicated to trauma care. We help patients and their families cope with traumatic events by assigning a specially trained nurse who remains with each patient throughout the critical stage of care - providing valuable communication and comfort. Once stabilized, an interdisciplinary team meets weekly to discuss critical treatment and rehabilitative needs to ensure a cohesive treatment plan.
Mission Regional Trauma Center offers resources to help deal with difficult issues. Our Spiritual Care program includes a specially trained team of interfaith chaplains who provide emotional and spiritual support to people during crisis situations, fear, grief and loss. A dedicated chaplain is assigned to every trauma patient to help explain to families the process and facility, providing much needed empathy and comfort.
