Common Telecare Questions

Why Should I Join Telecare?

Anyone who lives alone, especially those who are retired, widowed, seniors or convalescing from an illness, is eligible for Telecare service. There is no specific age group. It's available at no cost to anyone who might gain comfort from daily contact. You may join for a short period of time, or remain with our service indefinitely.

What Areas Does Telecare Service?

Telecare serves people living in Mission Viejo, Lake Forest, Laguna Niguel, Aliso Viejo, Ladera Ranch, Foothill Ranch, Laguna Hills, Dana Point, Coto de Caza, San Clemente, San Juan Capistrano and Trabuco Canyon. We are unable to serve areas where a toll call would be incurred.

How Does Telecare Work?

A Telecare volunteer will phone your home each day between 9 a.m. and noon, except major holidays. The purpose of the call is to be sure you are safe and well.

How Do I Join or for More Information?

If you wish to sign up for Telecare, call the Mission Hospital Auxiliary at (949) 364-1400, ext. 7358 or email at MHAuxiliary@stjoe.org. All information you provide on your application will remain strictly confidential. After you fill out the application and mail it in, you will begin to receive calls from the Telecare volunteers daily. If you find that it's inconvenient for you to wait for a daily call, you can discontinue service at any time.
