Philosophy of Care:
I believe that medicine, and particularly, ophthalmology and glaucoma, are both sciences and arts. I endeavor to apply the science of medicine and tailor a treatment plan to the individual patient.
Favorite Aspect of the Physician/Patient Relationship:
Educating patients that glaucoma is a team effort. I challenge them to take an active role in treating their disease. After all, they\'re the ones who have to take eyedrops on a daily basis in order to prevent vision loss. So at each visit, we have a frank discussion of the status of their disease and what we are going to do to keep them seeing for the rest of their lives.
Reason for Choosing This Field of Medicine:
I can still vividly remember putting on my first pair of glasses as an eighth-grader and thinking, \"That's great - I can see now.\" After that experience, I decided that being an ophthalmologist would allow me to provide others with that thrilling feeling of improved vision and quality of life.
Hobbies:
Tennis, golf, bocce, poker. Classical Piano; listening to live and recorded music.
