John D. Miller

Chief Development Officer, Mission Hospital Foundation

John D. Miller joined the Mission Hospital family as chief development officer for Mission Hospital Foundation in April 2018, bringing extensive leadership experience in all aspects of fundraising, with a passion for health care.

Utilizing his 20 years of experience in philanthropy, John leads the hospital’s fundraising efforts to meet the diverse health care needs of our south Orange County community.

During his distinguished career, John has successfully led large fundraising teams at Pepperdine University, UCLA, and most recently, Saint John’s Health Center in Santa Monica, a member of Providence St. Joseph Health.

One of Mission Hospital’s top philanthropic priorities is the development of the new Judi and Bill Leonard Institute for Cancer Prevention, Treatment and Wellness. Offering world-class care, the Leonard Cancer Institute will bring together dedicated specialists, innovative clinical trials and cutting-edge technology to compassionately care for the body, mind and spirit of our patients and family members.

Philanthropic initiatives have also been identified to further develop Mission’s six other clinical institutes: Heart and Vascular, Mental Health and Wellness, Neuroscience, Orthopedics, Trauma and Emergency, and Women and Infants

John earned a B.A. in Economics from UCLA and a Master of Divinity from Fuller Theological Seminary. An ordained minister, John spent the first 16 years of his career in pastoral ministry.
