Lauren Dwinell, MD
Vice President, Patient Flow
As the VP of Patient Flow, Lauren Dwinell, MD, is responsible for aligning
clinical and operational aspects of the hospital to best optimize patient
throughput. This includes the patient care units, Emergency Department
and ancillary services such as the laboratory and radiology, OR/PACU,
Environmental Care Services and transport. Dr. Dwinell also oversees the
TeleTracking System at our Mission Viejo and Laguna Beach campuses that
assists in managing patient flow.
Dr. Dwinell attended the University of Iowa, College of Medicine and completed
her pediatric residency training at Phoenix Children’s Hospital,
where she was also a Chief Resident. She has been in private pediatric
practice for since 1999. Dr. Dwinell has been in south Orange County and
with the Southern Orange County Pediatric Associates since 2002 where
she continues with that pediatric private practice one day a week. Dr.
Dwinell has been on Mission Hospital’s medical staff since 2002
and has served in many leadership positions at Mission Hospital, including
Co-Chair of the Women’s and Infants Department for seven years and
Chair of the Laborist Steering Committee which helped to initiate the
laborist program at Mission Hospital, as well as Chief of Staff.
