Mission Hospital CEO to Leave Post in February


Kenneth McFarland served 18 years at Orange County hospital

(Mission Viejo, Calif., Jan. 8, 2016) –Kenneth McFarland, chief executive officer of Mission Hospital, has announced that he is leaving his position to pursue new career opportunities, effective February 5, 2016.

McFarland has been with Mission Hospital for 18 years, serving as CEO since 2011. Part of the St. Joseph Health system, Mission Hospital is a combined 509-bed tertiary medical facility with campuses in Mission Viejo and Laguna Beach. It is south Orange County's only regional trauma center.

“Along with an outstanding team of physicians and staff, we have accomplished significant milestones that have positioned Mission Hospital to meet the many health care needs of our community,” says McFarland. “We tripled the footprint of our emergency department, doubled our inpatient capacity with the addition of a new patient tower and opened the world class Neuroscience & Spine Institute. Additionally, we ensured our work will continue for generations by reaching our philanthropic goal of raising $200 million in community support over these last ten years.”

McFarland has also been a board of trustee for the Camino Health Center, a federally qualified health center providing affordable, quality primary medical and dental care. Additionally, he held leadership positions with the Hospital Association of Southern California.
