Camino Health Center Auxiliary Fashion Show Raises More Than $285,000 to Improve Access to Health Care

Affiliated with Mission Hospital, Camino Health Center celebrated its 35-year anniversary.

Highlights of the fall/winter designer collections were showcased at the Camino Health Center Auxiliary Fashion Show and Luncheon on November 6 at the Monarch Beach Resort. Presented by South Coast Plaza, the event is rated among the top philanthropic luncheons in Orange County.

This year’s runway show featured curated looks by major European and American retailers at South Coast Plaza, including Bally, Diane von Furstenberg, Hugo Boss, Maje, MaxMara, Missoni, Ralph Lauren, Saks Fifth Avenue, Sandro, St. John and Tadashi Shoji. Escada and David Yurman provided informal modeling during the reception.

In conjunction with the 35-year anniversary, Camino Health Center CEO Debra Drew presented Camino Health Center Auxiliary founder, Gaye Birtcher, with a memento of the occasion. The memento was reminiscent of the donation jar that sat on the center’s front desk in the early 1980s.

A stunning Ruth Fitzgerald diamond necklace, valued at $6,200, was raffled off to raise funds to support patient care. The necklace was designed especially for this event.

Since the Auxiliary was founded in 1984, it has raised more than $6 million and supported more than one million patient visits at Camino Health Center. A federally qualified health center with locations in San Juan Capistrano, San Clemente and Lake Forest, Camino Health Center is devoted to meeting the health care needs of uninsured and underinsured residents; the center depends heavily on financial support from the community.

The proceeds from the fashion show will allow Camino Health Center to provide vital primary medical care, mental health and wellness services, family dental care and nutrition care.
