Pulmonary Rehab Education Program (PREP)
Emphysema, bronchitis, asthma and pulmonary fibrosis are just a few of the many conditions that can impact an individual’s ability to live life to the fullest. In addition to shortness of breath, people with pulmonary problems often experience anxiety, decreased mobility and deconditioning.
Mission Hospital’s Pulmonary Rehabilitation Education Program (PREP) is specifically designed to provide the treatment, resources and information for people with pulmonary conditions to lead healthy, productive lives. Our experts work to return patients to an optimum level of function by enhancing their exercise tolerance, minimizing the need for hospitalization and providing a full understanding of pulmonary dysfunction. As important, the team focuses on improving patients’ mental outlook providing the knowledge and strength to live healthier, happier lives.
PREP is a six-week program whereby participants attend classes three times a week for education and exercise at Mission Hospital’s Cardiopulmonary Rehab Center. Class sizes are kept small to provide highly personalized instruction.
PREP is available to those individuals with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease or interstitial lung disease, however a Physician’s order must be obtained prior to entering PREP. If you don’t have a regular doctor, please call (877) 459-DOCS to obtain a physician referral.
