CardioMEMS HF System
If you have heart failure (HF), changes in the pressure of blood through
your pulmonary artery (the blood vessel that moves blood from your heart
to your lungs) can indicate worsening heart failure. Even before you notice
symptoms, such as shortness of breath or weight gain, the pulmonary artery
(PA) may rise. The CardioMEMS™ HF system measures your PA pressure
and heart rate through a small sensor that is implanted in your pulmonary
artery. Once the device is implanted, you take daily pressure readings
from the comfort of your home, and wirelessly transmit the data to a secure
website that your health care provider monitors.
The CardioMEMS HF System is FDA-approved and is designated for heart failure
patients who have been hospitalized for heart failure within the last
year. This breakthrough in heart failure management can reduce hospital
readmissions for heart failure and improve quality of life.
Benefits of the CardioMEMS HF System include:
- Your health care provider can use the sensor information to make changes
to your treatment before you feel symptoms.
- It is simple and easy to use, with a home electronics unit that wirelessly
sends data to a secure website which is managed by your health care provider.
- The sensor does not need a battery or replaceable parts.
