When someone you love is experiencing a stroke and requires emergency care,
it is reassuring to know that expert help is immediately available. Stroke
response requires a dedicated team available 24 hours a day, 7 days a
week. Mission Stroke Center is committed to our community to diagnose,
treat and manage patients suffering from a stroke.
Offering the region's most comprehensive neurologic care, The Joint
Commission named Mission Hospital a Primary Stroke Center, recognizing
Mission's team of experts for following rigorous national standards
and guidelines that can significantly improve outcomes for stroke patients.
Mission Hospital is also an Orange County Emergency Medical Services
designated Stroke-Neurology Receiving Center, and the only hospital in south Orange County providing advanced neurologic
care for stroke.
Mission Hospital has also received the American Heart Association/American
Stroke Association’s Get With The Guidelines®- Stroke Silver Plus Quality Achievement Award. The award recognizes Mission
Hospital's commitment to ensuring stroke patients receive the most
appropriate treatment according to nationally recognized, research-based
guidelines based on the latest scientific evidence.
Clinical Commitment
Mission Stroke Center has a multi-disciplinary team of professionals who have developed stroke
protocols, evidence based orders and other diagnostic tools to provide
consistent and specialized system for delivery of care to stroke patients.
From emergency room to the stroke unit to rehabilitation, the Mission
Stroke Center specializes in the treatment of stroke patients through
the entire continuum of care.
Our Progressive Care & Stroke Unit is staffed by affiliated physicians
and nurses who are specially trained to treat patients suffering from
a stroke. As part of our patient-and-family centered care, we offer a
nourishment room and relaxing lounge for visiting families and friends.
Stroke Center Highlights
- We have a Code Stroke Team designed to respond to stroke as an emergency
- We have carefully developed evidence- based protocols and orders for transient
ischemic attacks (TIAs), ischemic stroke and hemorrhagic stroke that are
consistently updated based on the most current stroke research
- We use of thrombolytic or 'clot-busting' agents if indicated
- We use of the most state-of-the-art interventional procedures such as mechanical
clot retrieval systems and coiling for aneurysms.
