Waiting for Labor

If your pregnancy is free of complications, we encourage you to wait for labor to begin on its own. If you choose to deliver a little early, for non- medical reasons, it is best to stay pregnant for at least 39 weeks to give your baby all the time it needs to grow.

Babies need 39 weeks to help develop their important organs, their brain, lungs, and liver. Giving your baby at least 39 weeks means your baby is less likely to have vision and hearing problems after birth. It also gives your baby more time to be born at a healthy weight and improves their ability to suck and swallow and stay awake long enough to eat once he is born.

Talk to your doctor about waiting for labor or at least waiting for 39 weeks. For more information visit, http://www.marchofdimes.org/pregnancy/why-at-least-39-weeks-is-best-for-your-baby.aspx or GoTheFull40.com
